The von Flotow Family
The von Flotow family belongs to the ancient nobility of Mecklenburg. First of the family to be mentioned in writing, in a document dating from 1241, is Godefridus de Vlotowe.

The arms show a silver cross and four gold balls on a red ground. Atop the helmet, between two horns connected by a green wreath, sits a dove with a gold ring in its beak.
The ancestral line of the family in Mecklenburg begins with Andreas von Flotow (1477-1485) of Stuer and Woldzegarten.
