Manor House Langenfelde

In the 16th century the Langenfelde estate was in possession of the Knights of Bugenhagen, from 1652 on the owners were the von Sperling family, followed by the von Pfuel family. Around 1722 Johann August von Meyerfeldt, Governor General of Swedish Pomerania, received the estate.

From the end of the 18th century until 1945 the von Hagenow family were the owners.

Between 1843 and 1846 Paul Gustav von Hagenow had the historism-style manor house, with its striking corner towers, built on an H-shaped ground plan.

After World War II ended refugees moved into the manor house, flats were set up, a co-op shop and offices were accommodated. Plenty of events took place in the "castle", parties, dances, and weddings were celebrated. In the 1970s, the county council realized that the entire building needed to be reconstructed. The windows were in particularly bad condition therefore it is no small wonder that 10 of the 13 flats stood empty.

In 1992 the Treuhandanstalt sold the listed manor house without the obligation of compulsory restoration. Since then this valuable building stood empty and fell into deterioration. (Treuhandanstalt = The federal agency trusted with the privatisation of some 14.000 state-owned enterprises after the July, 1st currency change.) In recent years the east wing has been rebuilt, the west wing is still not renovated.
