Manor House Neklade

The Neklade feudal estate near Bergen was in possession of the von Barnekows from 1477 on, the previous owners were the von Bonow family.

In 1490, the estate went to the Bergen Monastery, after the Reformation it became a demesne and in 1619 was granted to Joachim von Scheele as a hereditary fief with a windmill and a watermill. In 1818 the von Kahlden family purchased the 480-hectare estate. It later passed to Mrs. von Veltheim, an Imperial Countess of Wyllich and Lottum by birth, who leased it to retired Major von Veltheim, i.e. within the family. She was expelled in 1945 and expropriated with the land reform.

The manor house was erected before 1800 and remodelled at the end of the 19th century. Within the remodelling it was given the two-storey extension with the semi-circular corner tower. The manor house was demolished around 1980.

We introduce this place in the book "Gutshäuser und Schlösser auf Rügen", Volume 2.
