Manor House Kobrow near Laage
Kobrow is situated north-east of the town of Laage, approximately 25 kilometres south of Rostock. The house is located on a hillside towards the river Recknitz, surrounded by a park.
In 1617 one part of the village belonged to the properties owned by Caspar Winterfeld. During the Thirty Years War the village was totally destroyed and afterwards ownership and tenancies changed in rapid frequency up to the acquisition of the estate by Ernst August Wilhelm von Bülow in 1878. In 1803 for instance Karl Friedrich von Genzkow is the owner of the property, in 1843 Karl Friedrich Amadeus Strömer and in 1853 Theodor Friedrich Heinrich Hillmann. The estate remains in possession of the von Bülow family up to 1932 when it was opened to settlements. The large manor house in gothic revival style was built around 1860 presumably after its predecessor was destroyed by fire. The two-storey building features a tower, not quite in the middle, with clock and tent roof design. Above the entrance are situated two noble coats of arms, of which one is the nobility shield of the von Bülow family. After the manor house had been primarily used for residential purposes up to 1990, it then stood empty for some years. The current owner has been restoring the building for several years now. Parts of it can already be used as living space, planned are residential and commercial premises.
