Estate Complex Lanckensburg

In the 14th century, the village was in possession of the von Platen family, in the 16th century the Normanns lived here, followed by the Bohlen family. In the middle of the 18th century (before 1742), the von der Lancken family bought the estate. They had the village of Zützitz renamed "Lanckensburg" in 1742.

After the purchase by the von der Lancken family, they had a manor house built by 1744. The manor house was reconstructed in 1822, 1882 and around 1910. The last owner of the estate, which covered 253 hectares in 1945, was Marie von der Lancken; the administrator was Walther von Platen.

The manor house was demolished in 1967; the farm buildings were used by the agricultural production co-operative.

The massive barn from 1913 remains from the estate complex. The architect was Paul Imberg (1877-1946).

Originally, the ensemble consisted of a central, six-storey granary and two flatter, flanking side wings with bat dormers, which were probably used as stables and accommodation for the servants. The impressive granary building is adorned with an imposing gable on the courtyard side that has few equals in Pomerania. The monument volume "Vorpommersche Küstenregion" describes the building, which was erected between 1913 and 1920, as follows: "Gabled, four-storey, nine-axles rendered building with three stepped attic storeys, two of which have steep pent roofs and tar paper roofing, the uppermost with a saddle roof [...] In front of the ground floor of the gable ends, there is a covered loading ramp that has been pulled into the building [...] On both sides, there are elongated one-and-a-half-storey stable wings." Of the stable wings mentioned, the southern one disappeared after 1995.

The estate also included a park, which was laid out in 1835. In the park there was a burial place of the von der Lancken family.

We introduce this place in the book "Gutshäuser und Schlösser auf Rügen", Volume 2.
