Manor House (Castle) Johannstorf
The two-storey brick building according to plans of master builder Rudolph Matthias Dallin originates from 1743 when it was built in the place of an ancient moated castle. The building was commissioned by the von Buchwald(t) family, whose ancestral seat Johannstorf had been since 1412.
The house burned down on March, 1st, 2025.

Eye-catcher is the central risalit on the south west side of the manor house with colossal pilasters, a crowned portal, and the triangular pediment adorned with the coat of arms. Inside one is impressed by the spacious entrance hall with double-flight stairs leading to the upper floor. In the garden-hall wooden panels have been conserved which reach up to the ceiling; also stucco ceilings, open fire places and ovens, mirrors, and textile wall coverings are still existing.
In 1782 the Eckermann family purchased the estate and remained the owners up to the expropriation in 1945.
After 1945, the manor house was mainly inhabited.
The listed building has been privately owned since 1993 and the urgently needed refurbishment was a long time coming. Thanks to a court settlement between the town of Dassow and the owner, the town of Dassow has managed to ensure that the renovation of the manor house has at least partially begun. After years of again nothing happening, the municipality endeavoured in vain to buy back the manor house. On March, 1st 2025 - as with so many manor houses for unknown reasons - a devastating fire broke out, leaving nothing but ruins.
The farm buildings are also falling into disrepair and it is probably only a matter of time before they too are reduced to ruins.
The castle moat is equally deteriorated.
