Manor House Blumenhagen

Blumenhagen is located between the towns of Pasewalk and Strasburg, close to the state border with Brandenburg. The village was first mentioned as a place in the Uckermark in 1375 in the land book of Emperor Karl IV.

At that time, the von Arnim family owned a large property in Blumenhagen, which they sold to the von Berg family in 1618. Subsequently, the owners of the estate changed frequently, the von Meyen and the von Neckar families also purchased properties in the village. Towards the end of the 15th century, part of the village became Pomeranian, and the Knight von Muckerwitz zu Torgelow acquired some property in Blumenhagen.

Carl Ludwig Fernow was born in Blumenhagen in 1763. He was an art theoretician, Romance scholar, and librarian in Weimar.

The manor house was probably built at the end of the 18th century and was extended in 1870. During these conversions, the building was given a two-storey brick built service extension. The manor house and the annex were used as a school until 1992. While the manor house stands empty nowadays, awaiting a necessary renovation, the farm annex is inhabited. There is a small park behind the manor house.

Also particularly beautiful is the Blumenhagen village church, a boulder structure which was erected around 1250.
