Manor House Neuendorf near Neuenkirchen on the Island of Rügen

As early as during the 14th century, Neuendorf was in possession of the von Normann family, a long-established Pomeranian-Rügen noble family that had been present in the Principality of Rügen since the 13th century.

The Swedish register from 1695 lists for the feudal estate belonging to the von Normann family a residential courtyard and four cottages. In 1785, the von Richter family purchased the estate. The last owner of the estate, which at that time covered 348 hectares, was Herrmann-Heinz von Richter.

The manor house, a rendered brick building from the mid-19th century, consists of several buildings arranged around an atrium courtyard.

In 1945 several families moved into the manor house. After 1990, the house returned into family ownership. Although there were initial attempts to save the house, it has now been empty for many years and is in a very dilapidated condition.

The small estate park, located east of the manor house, contains the von Richter family burial ground.

We introduce this place in the book "Manor Houses and Castles on Rügen" Volume 1.
