Estate and Park Kruckow

In Kruckow, a little off the main road, lies the former feudal estate; recognisable only by a few fragments and the former landscape park with many splendid trees, which was laid out according to a design by Peter Joseph Lenné commissioned by Karl Freiherr von Sobeck in 1840. The impressive manor house, built between 1884 and 1886, burned down in 1948.

In 1498 Bogislaw X. Duke of Pomerania ("the Great") enfeoffed Peter Podewils with Kruckow. In 1631 Jürgen and Adam Kruckow also owned four virgata of land. In 1712 Joachim Friedrich von Podewils sold his share of the estate to the Commissarius Franz von Glasenapp, who also took over four virgata from Hans Bernd von Maltzahn. His brothers Peter and Felix von Glasenapp let Major General Karl Franz von Sobeck have Kruckow, he was married to Felix von Glasenapp's daughter. The estate remained in the von Sobeck family until the 992-hectare estate was expropriated while in possession of Alexander Freiherr von Sobeck.

Kruckow finden Sie im Buch "Fotografische Zeitreise Vorpommern", Band 4
