Manor House Klepelshagen
Klepelshagen is located in the middle of the Brohmer Berge and as its district close to the town of Strasburg. From 1723 up to 1945 the estate was in possession of the von Arnim family and was an outlying estate of the neighbouring estate Neuensund.
After the previous building from the middle of the 18th century burnt down, the von Arnim family had the manor house rebuilt in its present form in 1917. The single-storey building with seven axes and extended mansard hipped roof rises above a raised basement. The edges of the building, the entrance area and the central window openings on the gable side are covered with plaster ashlar.
In 1995, the Hamburg entrepreneur Haymo G. Rethwisch purchased the estate. Since then, an ecological and wildlife-friendly working farming estate has been established here, which was transferred to the German Wildlife Foundation, which he founded, in 2009. Breeding and wild animals are slaughtered on site in the Gourmet Manufaktur and processed into high-quality meat products. Eight themed trails lead through the Wildtierland with adventure pulpits that provide information about the life of the wild animals.
The manor house nowadays accommodates offices and in the former granary an information centre is located, the "Botschaft der Wildtiere" (Embassy of Wildlife).
Across the road stands the former forester's house built in 1801.
Sightseeing: The manor house can be viewed from the outside. The playground and orchard are open to visitors.
