Manor House Wolken
The Wolken estate near Bützow was a demesne. An account of Wolken by Hans Nieske can be found in the book "Rural Life in Mecklenburg in the First Half of the 20th Century" by Mario Niemann.
Wolken was probably a so-called town estate, i.e. owned by the town of Bützow. The manor house, built around 1860, has a typical demesne character and was inhabited by families during GDR times. In 1945 Polish forced labourers were harassed on the Wolken estate and a deserter from the Wehrmacht was denounced and then shot. An incident that occurred several times in the Bützow area and elsewhere at the end of the war.
