Manor House Bartelshagen

The first documented reference was on 4 October 1293 by Hermann Bishop of Schwerin as “Bertrammeshagen”.

The Count von Hessenstein brothers owned the estate in 1807. The demesne Councillor Carl Pogge took over the estate in 1829, after he had already purchased the Roggow estate in 1790 and the Zierstorf tenure in 1828.

Being a classic autodidact, he contributed to the increase in agricultural income through his work. He was the best grasslands farmer of his time. His invention “Poggeln” – sanding boggy meadows – was named after him. There was a close friendship between Carl Pogge and the world-famous agricultural scientist Johann Heinrich von Thünen in the neighbouring Tellow estate. The estate was under the ownership of the Pogges until 1938.

Margarete Countess von Polier von Pilatti von Tassun Darberg and Countess von Arnim were, as far as can be proved, owners of the ca. 439 ha. fiefdom until 1945. They were expropriated in the land reform. Refugee families, municipal offices and a shop resided there after that.

There was finally a change for the manor house built in neo-Gothic style in the second half of the 19th century after 2000. It was extensively renovated according to its historic archetype by the new owner. Wooden floorboards and wall heating ensure a pleasant temperature in the rooms with mud plastered walls. The manor house next to an idyllic pond is used for residential purposes today.

Modern furnished holiday homes have been prepared for you to spend your holiday in the manor house.
