Manor House Kenz
St. Mary's Pilgrimage Church
The church in Kenz was built around 1400 not far from a healing spring as a pilgrimage church in the Brick Gothic style on a boulder stone base. Thanks to the spring, Kenz developed into the most visited pilgrimage site in Western Pomerania in the 15th century and became a health spa in the 18th century. The octagonal fountain house from around 1760 was rebuilt above the fountain in 2003 according to the historical model.
Inside the church, the first thing that catches the eye are the valuable stained glass windows in the six choir windows from around 1430. An unusual feature is the hinged wooden tomb from around 1410 of Duke Barnim VI of Pomerania-Wolgast, who died of the plague in 1405 and was buried in the church in Kenz. He is also commemorated by a limestone epitaph donated by Duke Philip II in 1603.
