Manor House Jennewitz

Until the secularisation in 1552, Jennewitz was owned by the Doberan monastery; afterwards, the village was under the control of the dukes / grand dukes of Schwerin as a demesne. The estate was leased out.

The manor house was probably built around 1872 and was from then on occupied by the respective tenants and employees.

At the end of the war in 1945, the Red Army briefly took over the manor house.

After 1947, refugees moved into the house. The interior of the manor house was adapted to the needs of the residents and to its use as the headquarters of a machinery lending station. Flats, an event hall, offices, and a communal kitchen were created. In 1953, a kindergarten also moved in.

In 1998, the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania sold the manor house and property to a property company. The last tenants moved out by the year 2000. After that, the renovation of the manor house began.
