Balkenkoppel Manor House
Balkenkoppel belongs to the Trinwillershagen community; the small settlement lies a few kilometers south of the port city of Barth.
The last owner of the estate, which then encompassed 1665 acres, was Ida Weidel; she was dispossessed in 1945.
The manor house consists of several parts from different epochs. The original building is a half-timbered edifice erected at the beginning of the 18th century. On the north side a two-story lateral addition was added, probably at the beginning of the 19th century. The round tower, which sits above a bay, was supposedly erected at the end of the 19th century. During East German times the building was occupied. After reunification the renters gradually moved out, and the building stood decaying and empty for several years.
Today the manor house is again in private hands, has been lavishly renovated in recent years, and is occupied. The estate compound, which was still completely overgrown a few years ago, has been cleared up. The house is surrounded by a small landscape garden with a pond and manicured green grounds. Two agricultural buildings remain.
