Wendenhof Manor House

The house was built in Late Classical style at the end of the nineteenth century and was totally renovated in 1989.  It had the character of a country villa where active agriculture probably played a secondary role.  At the side of the house the castle-like tower with its bronze cap is conspicuous.

According to older residents the house was originally built for a Baron von Richthofen, and later came into the possession of a factory-owning family from Schwerin.  The house and the well-preserved park wall are under national heritage protection.  During the East German era Wendenhof was used as a children’s home.  The park, which lies on the Ziegelaussensee (Outer Ziegel Lake) in Schwerin, is noteworthy.  The area is under landscape protection and is also called Bellevue for its excellent view of Schwerin.
